Bass tubes are great baits for any of the black bass family but smallmouth bass seem to love them best!
Tube baits have been around for several decades since the introduction of the GITZIT tube by Bobby Garland over 30 years ago. One of the main reasons for their effectiveness is a tube’s close resemblance to several types of forage, especially crayfish and bottom dwelling minnows like the goby!
They come in a variety of lengths from an inch up to 5 inches or more for specialized applications with the most common lengths being 2.5″, 3″ and 4″. Tubes can also be rigged in different ways and with varying weights making them the perfect bait for covering the water column in many situations…
